66 Sherwin Road is a stylish and popular six-bed student house with all-inclusive rent, located on a quiet street in the heart of Lenton, Nottingham.
The house is a lovely Victorian property. It’s light and spacious with many original features, high ceilings, and six good-sized bedrooms. As well as the large kitchen/diner, there is a separate lounge complete with a 55-inch HD smart TV and Virgin 360 TV box offering hundreds of TV channels.
Additionally, Virgin Gig1 ultrafast broadband is available throughout the house with Virgin Wi-Fi Pods in place to ensure every room gets a great signal. In the heated cellar there is a fully-equipped laundry room (Miele and Bosch Washers and Dryers) and extra storage space for your personal belongings.

The location is excellent. It’s within easy reach of the QMC and the University of Nottingham, it’s a short walk to the local bus stops and tram routes into the city, and there are plenty of local shops, gyms, and take-away restaurants nearby including a Tesco Express, Lidl, and a large Sainsbury’s.
We purchased the house in the summer of 2015 and since then it has benefitted from a series of major improvements including an amazing new kitchen, new appliances, new beds, new mattresses (2021), new carpets (2022), new furniture in every room, re-decoration throughout, new double glazing, a new CCTV and alarm system, secure (covered) bike storage and a lovely garden with outside seating and a BBQ. There is also off-street parking for one car with further on-street parking available via a resident permit.
In 2018 we upgraded both bathrooms and installed a larger and more efficient boiler to ensure every room is nice and warm in the winter and to make sure there is always lots of hot water for the showers!

Rising utility bills and student rents
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months you can’t have escaped the energy cost crisis that’s unfolding in the UK. The increases over the past 6+ months have been bad enough, but it looks like they’re going to be overshadowed by further increases in the energy cap in October and again next January.

Despite the crazy heat this summer we’ve been busy beavering away upgrading No. 66 Sherwin Road to make it the best student house in Nottingham. OK, we might be biased but you have to set yourself goals and that’s what we’re aiming for, and we like to stretch ourselves every year to see what more we can do.
Why Bother Re-Roofing the Privy on a Student House?
Lots of old Victorian houses that have been converted into student accommodation would have had an old-style privy (outside toilet) in the back garden. Most will have been demolished or decommissioned over the years, and while a few may still function, they’re unlikely to be welcoming places you’d be willing to venture into to ‘spend a penny’.

When we purchased 66 Sherwin Road in the summer of 2015, we found that the students who were about to move in for the 2015/16 academic year had signed a bills excluded contract with the former owners.
A Tidy Garden Reflects a Tidy Student House
The gardens (front and back) at 66 Sherwin Road are lovely but as you can see from the photo below that was taken in 2007 they weren’t always quite so well-maintained by the then owners.
What Not to Bring When Moving In
Our philosophy is to make moving in to our student house at 66 Sherwin Road as pleasant and as easy as possible. We want you to be excited to arrive and we don’t want you (or your parents) stressed out about what you need to bring with you and how you’re going to get it here (and home again at the end of the year)!
